Repost from Nick Polizzi (info@thesacredscience.com): In the words of the Dalai Lama, "An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful..." The first hour after you wake up is an opportunity to reclaim a commitment to robust health, good thoughts, and vibrant energy. Even if you've had a poor night's sleep, or you consumed too much of the wrong food (or drink) the night before, you can reset your intentions each morning, and step back onto the path. With that in mind, here are 3 start-of-day rituals that will help to energize your body and spirit: 1. Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice (in your first glass of water) Lemons are a digestive bitter. A digestive bitter is an herb, vegetable, or in this case, a fruit that promotes digestion by stimulating the production of enzymes that break down your food. So fresh lemon juice helps your body absorb vitamins, minerals, and other vital nutrients from your meals, releasing all the potential energy they contain! Squeezing a lemon wedge into your first glass of water in the morning has been shown to be a mood booster too! That sour punch has a sweet psychological aftertaste. So if you're prone to anxiety or depression (clinical or seasonal), I would definitely recommend adding this dose of nature's cheer to your morning drink. 2. Morning Meditation I talk about meditation a lot because it's an invaluable resource, and it's free and easy. It's changed my life and the lives of millions of people all over the world. If you don't have a meditation practice yet, I guarantee it will be a game-changer if you start one. Here's a very simple meditation you can do each morning: Seat yourself in a comfortable chair, or on a cushion on the floor. Keep your back as straight as possible, without straining. Take a deep breath or two, and then close your eyes. Notice your breath. Place light attention on it as you breathe naturally, in and out of your nose. You may want to focus on the space just underneath your nose, where the air enters and leaves your body. Allow your thoughts to flow as they will. Don't try to control them or to "empty your mind." But don't get too involved with your thoughts either. Don't chase after them, and don't push them away. Just let them pass through your mind, while you keep your attention - ever so lightly - on your breath. If you lose track of your breath, that's all right too. When you notice you've forgotten about your breath, just gently return your relaxed attention back to it. Try this practice for 5-20 minutes and then see how you feel. 3. Stretch Now, you don't need to do advanced yoga poses first thing in the morning (though kudos to you if you do!). Some basic stretches can make a huge difference in your day. Roll your neck around for half a minute, clockwise and then counterclockwise (or vice versa). Extend your arms straight outward and hold for 20 seconds, to relieve tension in your sides. Put your hands on your hips and do a little side twist in both directions. These incredibly simple movements help to get your blood flowing and prepare your cells to absorb the nutrients from your breakfast. They also stimulate the release of endorphins -- happy hormones -- in your body! I hope the 3 practices above help you create a little extra self-care time for yourself!

Great Morning Fam! I just came off a (7) day detox and also threw in this (7) Day Cabbage Soup Diet (https://divascancook.com/wonder-soup-recipe-weight-loss.../) claiming that you will lose 10lbs in one week. Well, sure as Sh%t... woke up this morning and got on the scale 10lbs lighter! Now I'm not a fan of diets, I just tried it, since I was detoxing anyway. The older I get and because of Army injuries, I have arthritis from my neck down to my knees and for years I've been depressed about not being able to do the things that I used to do. Plus, my hormones are always giving me hell...lol Thanks to learning how to take care of myself with the right herbs and supplements, my pain has lessoned, but it's the weight that's the hardest. I'm too short to be carrying this and it doesn't feel good. I teach wellness and I'm learning to live a well life, which means incorporating new routines, being disciplined about certain foods that causes inflammation and not giving up on myself. I'm not trying to be thin again, look a certain way or anything like that, because I love myself. I just want to feel healthy! Enough about me... Hope you join us on April 6th at 7pm for the Whole Experience (https://www.facebook.com/events/774627597274114) to learn about what Wholistic Wellness is for the mind, body and spirit. I'm more than just a therapist who loves to talk about God and Mental Health, I'm a advocate for US!. ALL people who just want be well and walk in purpose... #victoryspeaks #wholisticwellness

It is 2022! Whew... The more time goes by, the more things change and they are significant changes. All pandemic talk aside.... the SYSTEMS of the world alongside their Big Brother Capitalism are scrambling to maintain control and stress is at an all time high from up high to down low. There is stress creeping up on people and they don't even know it. There are people that know they are stressing and won't even show it. Then there are the people that are overwhelmed by stress, knowing it, showing it and still won't do a damn thing about it! So what is stress? Stress develops when a person is operating outside of themselves and trying to control things that is out of their control. Period! Nothing more...Nothing Less... If you ever sat down and thought about life and how much you contribute to your own stress, you would probably pimp slap yourself for some hard self-love! LOL 😄Fr Fr... What if I was to tell you that you are the chaos in your life? You hold the key to make things better by just 3 simple things called the Three F's. I learned it from the comedian Katt Williams some years ago. If the person or situation is not Feeding You... Fu@%ing You or Financing You... LET IT GO!😅 All jokes aside... You are in control of you! Things are going to change. Change with things! Quit giving your power away over circumstances that is out of your control... You got this...God's got it MORE!💯 Peace and Love #victoryspeaks

Year End Confession: I am still in aww of the past 2 years! Nothing was expected, nothing was in my control (Besides Me 😊) and nothing I planned came through. Worked with others to get through their anxiety while working through my own. It was mentally exhausting at times, but I kept on praying and kept on saying, "It WILL get better". Yes, WILL! It was my WILL that got me through. Nothing more, nothing less other than the WILL that God gave me through the gift of the Holy Spirit. There's so much confusion... People looking for peace. Looking for quick solutions with long-term hope. My journey is just like most. I'm just a girl from Gary, IN, partially grew up in Inglewood, CA and ended up in the US Army with traveling mercies around the world, and ended up here in the Atlanta, GA area working in social services and mental health for over 20yrs and counting. At the end of the day, life is good! Can't complain. I've accomplished a lot and there is more to come, but why do I always feel like I can do more? There is not a day that goes by that I ask myself, "Okay, what's next?". The work never seems to end. It's infinite in nature because there is always a need. But, at the end of day, what about my needs? Are my needs not important? Do I continue to chase a dream that seems like it's going nowhere although there are so many accomplishments in between? The answer is REST! Reset Emotionally and Spiritually with Time... I've found that if I don't take the time to check in with my emotions through a spiritual lens, instead of my own, I'm spinning my wheels and the outcome is never what I believe it should be. If I don't' take the time to reset my beliefs, my intentions and my actions on a regular basis, I'm not doing myself or anyone else any good. One things for sure... These past two years have been rough, but we're still here for purpose in this journey we call LIFE. All we can do is put on our Boots and remember to REST! 😊#victoryspeaks

Looking at the dawn of 2022 and being grateful for living through a pandemic, the work I started in 2019 in creating a space for wellness holistically seems more relevant now than ever. Although, I wasn't officially diagnosed with Covid, I experienced the loss of taste and smell for (6) weeks in 2020 and today my smell and taste buds are still off. Whether we experienced death or illness during the pandemic, we all loss a sense of freedom and the aftermath of losing freedom creates fear, anger and/or doubt (what I call the FAD Syndrome). It has caused a lot of people to be stuck mentally and if the mental is off, so is the body. If the mental is off, so is the spirit. The Need for Wholistic Wellness is the focus of the Whole Body and Spirit! Take a look at where you are in your life right now and ask yourself are you Whole. If not, Why? Where have you neglected yourself? Mentally? Physically? Spiritually? The Mind, Body and Spirit are a team for Wholeness. Take charge of your life by practicing self-care. Learn how to focus on your needs without being selfish. Be intentional about your time. Most of all, SET BOUNDARIES to protect your energy, your spirit and your over all well-being. In everything gain understanding and in everything be purposeful. Don't let days, months and years pass without being your true self, your authentic self and living out your purpose in life. The spirit of depression, anxiety and worse is running rapid throughout lives, our families and our communities. BE THE CHANGE, by starting with YOU! #selfcareisthebestcare 🤗 #victoryspeaks
